7 Reasons To Consider Taking A Solo Cruise

Solo travel isn’t for everyone. However, if you love the idea but are scared of being on your own, then a solo cruise can, in fact, be the perfect solution.

A cruise can offer you the perfect balance of self-indulgence, solitude and social events and is a fantastic way of dipping your toes into the pool of solo travelling. It is easy to meet other people if you are also looking to make friends. Read on to see seven reasons you should consider taking  solo cruises.

Ready-made itinerary

A cruise offers a great way to explore and with port visits and excursions scheduled to offer customers the best that each destination has to offer then you have a ready-made itinerary that makes travelling really easy. If this is your first time travelling alone then having the planning and research done by someone else means more time for you to relax.

You are in charge

If you travel with a loved one or as a family group, then there has to be a level of compromise on what to do and when. As a solo traveller, there is nobody in your group to please but yourself. This means that you can be a little bit selfish and tailor your schedule to you.

Make new friends

Cruising solo does not mean that you will be alone. There are plenty of other people on a cruise to meet and socialise with. Some cruise companies even organise meet ups for solo travellers and if you want to eat with others, they are happy to arrange for single diners to be seated together in the dining room. Cruises are quite social so you may end up making friends whilst you are onboard.

You don’t need to socialise

If you want to simply enjoy your own company on a cruise this is also entirely possible. A cruise ship can also be a great place for solitude and cruise companies are flexible to the wants of their passengers. If lazing by the pool with a good book and quiet is your idea of heaven, then this is certainly possible.

Cabins for single travellers are often cheaper

Some cruise companies may have a single traveller supplement, but not all, and many have smaller cabins for solo travellers which are cheaper than more traditional cabins. This means more money in your pocket for the fun things.

No children

As a solo traveller, an adults-only cruise is a great choice, and this means there will be no children to disturb the peace. You are more likely to have a relaxing experience and there will probably be a higher ratio of solo travellers onboard.

On some cruises that are not adults-only you may find adult-only areas. On Princess Cruises, look for The Sanctuary and on Carnival there is the Serenity Adults-Only retreat.

Me-Time

If you have spent your life pleasing others, then solo travel is a great way to find some much needed me-time and readdress the balance in life. Solo travel is about finding the balance in life and really relaxing.
