The dining options available onboard any modern cruise ship are many and varied. Because the cost of your meals is included in your fare, at least for the main dining room and buffet restaurant, this can make dining much simpler for many guests. But what do they have to offer?
Let’s take a look at some of the dining options available onboard some of the most popular cruise lines.
P&O
Offering a wide range of different dining options, P&O have restaurants which are included in the cost of your cruise, speciality restaurants where you will pay a little more, and even the option to dine in, with their 24/7 room service menu. Speciality restaurants offer a range of cuisines depending on the ship but might include Indian/British fusion, modern British, tapas, plant-based and sushi. They cater to most dietary requirements, and you will find plenty of between-meal snacks like afternoon tea and ice cream on board.
In the main restaurant, guests can choose either Freedom Dining, a flexible option for eating when and where, or Club Dining (depending on the ship), which is a more traditional option.
Celebrity Cruises
Understanding that not everyone wants to holiday in the same way, Celebrity offers a wide range of included dining options on all of their ships, and a number of options that cost a little more. The restaurants on board are themed to the destinations or routes that each ship takes, so this will have an impact on the types of cuisine available. They offer two different dining options; Select dining anytime which gives passengers the freedom to be as flexible as they like with their day, or Dining early or late which means you have a set time to eat every day.
Royal Caribbean
Offering what they describe as a “Palate-Pleasing Culinary Crusade”, Royal Caribbean prides itself on the range of quality culinary options that it offers onboard its ships. From authentic homestyle Italian cuisine to Asian dishes, they offer a wide range of dishes from all over the world. As with other cruise lines, they have restaurants which are included in the ticket price of your cruise and those that offer something special for a little more. In-cabin dining is made possible with its comprehensive room service menu.
Dining packages are available, and guests can choose from the “three restaurant package”, which offers dining in three restaurants of their choice, and the “unlimited dining package” which allows for speciality restaurant dining every night and at lunch on sea days as well as discounts on wine. They also offer three different drinks packages.
Cunard
From fine dining to informal bites, Cunard offers a wealth of onboard dining options. There are four main restaurants onboard, and each stateroom grade is linked to one of these restaurants where guests will find imaginative menus. There are also speciality restaurants which cost a little more for those extra-special meals. Afternoon tea is included, and for a little more guests can partake in a champagne tea. Whilst every effort is made onboard to cater to specific dietary requirements, the expert chefs onboard Cunard are able to adapt many of the dishes as well.
